How to use VVDI2 & GT100 to read VW engine?

Xhorse VVDI2

Today I’m gonna make a tutorial test using these devices on the bench: Xhorse VVDI2 commander, GODIAG GT100 obd2 breakout box, VW BOSCH engine, and a computer. GODIAG GT100 is the latest auto tool for testing OBD2 protocol communication, which can be connected with a single module like ECU for diagnosis.

Now let’s go to start:
Connect the wires with the VW BOSCH engine according to the wiring diagram.

Connect GODIAG GT100, Xhorse VVDI2, and engine.

Insert power wire of GODIAG GT100, and turn on its power switch. As you see, the CAN light flashes, it indicates the protocol communication between the engine & VVDI2 is normal. There is not communication failure in either device.

Diagnostic trouble codes were read successfully!

Although Xhorse VVDI2 can read DTCs from the engine directly, it can’t diagnose if the protocol communication between devices was normal. GODIAG GT100 does work. Moreover, GODIAG GT100 can also connect with dashboard, immobilizer, ECU…or other single module used for the operation. More tests to be continued…
